Definition of Physiotherapy
Updated: Sep 7
The word "massage" has a different meaning to every body. Some hear the word and think relaxing self care. Others hear the word massage and visualize dark seedy dens of iniquity. For this reason we've decided to use a better word from now on- PHYSIOTHERAPY.
Physiotherapy - is one of the allied health professions that, by using manual manipulation of the musculoskeletal system, evidence-based kinesiology, exercise prescription, joint mobilization and health education, treats conditions such as chronic or acute pain, soft tissue injuries, cartilage damage, arthritis, gait disorders and physical impairments typically of musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary, neurological and endocrinological origins. Physical therapy is used to improve a patient's physical functions through physical examination, diagnosis, prognosis, physical intervention, rehabilitation and patient education.
Our method of treating seniors falls more in line with the definition of physiotherapy and what it brings to mind than the variances of the word massage. So goodbye Massage and hello Physiotherapy!
